From the Headmaster
Welcome to our website. I hope that you find it useful, whether you are a prospective pupil or parent, or if you already have a connection with RGSAO.
RGSAO was formed by the merger of The Royal Grammar School, Worcester and The Alice Ottley School on 1st September 2007. RGS has been at the heart of Worcester for more than seven hundred years, and AO has had a national reputation for excellence since its foundation in 1883.
Today, we are a thriving, independent, co-educational school, with high academic standards and a wide range of sporting, cultural and outward bound opportunities. We have invested £6.3 million in our educational facilities over the last two years and they are among the best in the Midlands. A full-size floodlit all-weather pitch, two new pavilions, a digital language laboratory, state-of-the-art fitness suite, dance studio and refurbished science and art blocks have all been opened in recent months.
We take great pride in our pastoral care system and the quality of the relationships between pupils and staff. Our pupils are from a variety of backgrounds and, as well as our Junior Schools, Springfield and RGS The Grange, children come to us at the age of eleven from a large number of maintained primary schools and independent preparatory schools across Worcestershire and beyond.
Do come along to one of our Open Mornings, and I would also be delighted to meet you on an ordinary working day if you wish. Please telephone the Registrar on 01905 613391 to arrange a visit.
