Physics Win
3 August 2006
RGS Worcester student Peter Ford, has just proved himself one of the brightest Physicists in the land.
Peter,17, has just been selected to represent the UK at the International Physics Olympiad in Singapore later this year despite being a L6 student in an U6 competition! Only 6 students will represent our country from an initial group of 1500 and they have had to answer some of the toughest problems imaginable. It is a tribute to the teaching staff at RGS Worcester that they are able to tutor such a special pupil and are obviously a match for any school in the country.
Whilst obviously exceptionally academically able Peter is no 'boffin'. He is a tough rower, and represented the school at the recent Evesham Sprint where he collected a winners medal; plays three musical instruments to Grade 8; is a Ten Torer and a member of the schools' Combined Cadet Force! He also performed exceptionally well in the recent Chemistry Olympiad and was a member of our winning UK Mathematical Trust team who won the Regional Final last week (unfortunately he could not compete in that as the date clashed with the final of the Physics Olympiad!) Well done to Peter and those who teach him.
