RGS Win U16 Rugby Final

2 April 2007

2007 North Midlands U16 Cup

Report on the Final
RGS Worcester vs Old Swinford Hospital School

RGS started well and made the most of their territorial advantage when Nat MacDonald powered his way over the line and Neil Pinner converted. This was then repeated a few minutes later. Old Swinford came back into the game and kicked two penalties leaving the score at half time 14 – 6 to RGS.

Just after the re-start RGS ran a quick penalty in the Old Swinford twenty-two which was passed out to Nick Houlston who beat his man to score in the corner. Old Swinford attacked with some well executed lineout and forward driving play. These resulted in two tries, with the second conversion giving them the opportunity to go into the lead, but it drifted left of the posts. With the game on a knife edge and only one point separating the teams Nat MacDonald again shrugged off a couple of tackles to score close to the posts and Neil Pinner converted. Old Swinford then came back again, scoring in the corner, but missed the conversion which left them trailing by three points. RGS wrapped the game up on the final whistle when Nat MacDonald again forced his way over the line. The final score was RGS 31, Old Swinford 23.
