RGS Worcester RFC - U18 Seven-a-side Tournaments

16 March 2007

U18 Marches 7s - Sunday 4th March 2007

In appalling conditions RGS played King's Worcester and were in total control of the game scoring four tries to win 24 - 0.

The second game against Bromsgrove proved a very different game with RGS struggling to break through the well organised defence and avoid the puddles! RGS conceded three tries to lose 0 - 15.

The first round of the knock out stage meant a long, cold and damp wait to play St Edwards School from Oxford who started off well scoring a couple of tries in the first few minutes. RGS fought back after half time but ended up losing 5 - 29.

U18 North Of England 7s

A strong squad travelled up to Birkenhead to play in the North of England 7 a side tournament. In the group stages RGS beat:

WARWICK School 31 - 14
RYDAL PENRHOS 35 - 5
ORMSKIRK School 36 - 19

but failed to beat a well drilled Bromsgrove team. This meant continuing in the plate competition where in the quarter finals they played:

STONYHURST and beat them 31 - 10

In the Semi-finals they were drawn against:

AMPLEFORTH and scored in the dying seconds to win 19 - 14.

In the Final RGS played HYMES COLLEGE who were comfortable winners in the end.

Good luck to the U16s who are playing Old Swinford Hospital in the final of the North Midlands Cup on Monday 26th March, at Malvern Rugby Club, kicking off at 2.45 pm.
