Hockey Tournament
28 November 2007
HOCKEY TOURNAMENT On Wednesday 28th November eight Yr4 girls travelled to Bromsgrove School for an under 9’s hockey tournament against seven other schools. Our first match was a tough challenge against Abberley Hall. RGS The Grange played well, defending their goal with great enthusiasm, but eventually lost with a score of 0-3. The next match was against Bromsgrove B team and RGS The Grange produced some super hockey and succeeded in winning with a score of 2-0 with goals by Sasha Lloyd and Lydia Hough. Spurred on by this victory our next match against Cheltenham was a nailbiting contest with RGS The Grange scoring the only goal in the final minute of the game. Mention must go to Rose Bevan-Smith for fantastic defending. With 2 wins under our belt this put RGS The Grange through to the Semi-Finals! Our opposition was King’s Hawford and the girls knew this would be a tough challenge. We lost 0-5, however we tackled hard and defended with spirit. Indeed King’s Hawford went on to win the tournament so we felt we had worked hard. Our final match was the play-off for 3rd and 4th place. Despite the rain arriving and feeling very tired, the girls fought off the attack from a strong Moor Park side finishing the match with a nil all draw. RGS The Grange’s final position was a very-well deserved joint 3rd. Congratulations girls a fantastic achievement! By Mrs Wreghitt
