Welcome to RGS The Grange
I am delighted to welcome you to RGS The Grange, the Junior School of RGS Worcester & The Alice Ottley School. Our aim is to provide a truly excellent education for all our children aged 2 1/2 to 11.At RGS The Grange you will find a happy, secure and caring community where every child matters. We offer a rich, broad and challenging curriculum to bring out every child’s unique talents in a setting where a sense of purpose and quiet discipline prevail.
We are proud of our school! I take great pleasure in showing round visitors who are unfailingly impressed by what they see. Our children are bright, confident and well-behaved individuals who work actively together towards common goals.
Strong moral values are developed through seeking and celebrating that which is good in all members of our community and the world around us.
This prospectus provides just a flavour of the richness of life at RGS The Grange. Do come to visit the school so that you can see for yourself the full range of opportunities we offer our children.
A Warm and Secure Start
Within RGS The Grange we pride ourselves on an outstanding Early Years and Pre-Prep department, where we understand the importance of an effective start to your child’s education. We offer a fun, stimulating and caring environment allowing the children space to grow independently. We recognise that each child is uniquely talented and our goal is to encourage them to achieve their full potential across a wide range of activities. We aim to foster a love of learning within a broad and balanced curriculum adopting a modern innovative approach, yet where traditional values are still retained and respected, igniting an enthusiasm for learning that will stay with your child for life.
In Nursery, Pre-School and Reception our dedicated staff encourage and promote ‘active’ learning throughout all the areas of the Foundation Stage Curriculum, celebrating each child’s achievements and preparing them for a smooth and happy transition into Key Stage One which consists of Years One and Two. As part of a larger school your child will benefit from excellent facilities, equipment and specialist staff for Music and Physical Education.
Although primarily Christian-based we welcome families from all faiths and cultures into a friendly, caring school in which pupils can learn and play whilst developing confidence and self-motivation.
Developing Creativity
Every child is encouraged to explore their own creative ability as a means to developing confidence and self-expression.Artistic expressive development is nurtured from the first day a child enters RGS The Grange and is celebrated through the stimulating, imaginative displays to be found throughout the school.
Every pupil is taught music by specialist musicians. Children are encouraged to sing and make music all through the school and have the opportunity to learn to play a wide variety of orchestral instruments as well as the piano, guitar and saxophone. The excellent choirs and orchestra provide a framework for musical expression. From school assemblies to informal concerts and productions, children have opportunities to take pride and pleasure in performing for others.
All the creative arts at RGS The Grange promote confidence, communication and entertainment. Children have our total support to pursue their artistic interests and great freedom for self-expression.
A More Formal Learning
In the Prep School our talented staff are committed to teaching the children a broad, subject-based curriculum in a challenging, yet happy and supportive, environment. A love of learning and achievement is encouraged and their successes acknowledged.Your child will be given opportunities to work both independently and cooperatively through carefully planned lessons taught in light, airy classrooms. Interactive whiteboards stimulate the children and make learning fun for them. The more practical subjects of Science, Art, Music, ICT, Design and Technology and Food Technology are taught in well-resourced specialist rooms.
The children sit the Key Stage 2 SATS in English, Mathematics and Science at the end of Year 6 achieving results that are “well above the national average” (ISI report 2006).
On leaving RGS The Grange the children are fully equipped to continue the next phase of their education at RGSAO or any school of their parents’ choice.
